Q

What's your favorite thing about the TV show Downton Abbey? ;)

Elizaveta responded on 03/02/2013
A

oh wow. How did you know I watched that? I have to admit something: I have an addiction to British TV shows. In fact, recently, Sherlock was my newest addiction. Thing is: I don't have cable, so when I do find a show I like, I normally end up watching it on Netflix when it's done for the season, so I am behind everyone else. Downton Abbey... well... it's basically a soap opera, but a very British one, which means it is done well:) I have to say I kept getting so frustrated with Lady Mary and her shenanigans - we all just wanted her to end up with the right guy. And yet, there is a dose of realism in the show - and that's why I liked it, too - the budding desire for independence in women, for example, and their struggle to express that, while still retaining family ties, and all the problems that come with it.

Q

Hi, will the story of the "Meant" MV be continued?

Elizaveta responded on 02/27/2013
A

the story of Meant is part of the larger story of the adventure of Beatrix. We will be posting more of it on the Map on my site in the coming weeks, and then the complete one, in narrative form, as well. For now you can start following the adventure at http://www.elizaveta.com/beatrix

Q

Hello! I'm Courtney and I was wondering where you get your inspiration for your music and your style? (:

Elizaveta responded on 02/27/2013
A

hi Courtney! What a great question, but oh so difficult, too:)
I get inspiration from everything. Books, nature, people, emotions. Stories. Unfulfilled desires are great, too:) Any emotion can be channeled into art. Any emotion naturally needs to be expressed, and music is one of the best ways for it. I love flowers and I am a flower essence practitioner, so I have been inspired by them and their diversity for quite a while. I am a bit of a sponge: I love information. I love watching people. I am into myths, fantasy and sci fi, but I also love real life fiction because it reminds me of not only what is possible, but what is already here and now. I love movies. I am into languages and travel. There are many, many things:)

Q

I've just finished listening to your beautiful cover version of 'Love Is The Drug' by Grace Jones. What other songs would you love to cover in your own special way?
Kate Bush or Enya by any chance?

Elizaveta responded on 02/27/2013
A

It is a great question, and thank you! Yes, I have quite a few covers in the works. However, I am not sure I would want to cover songs by Kate Bush or Enya, simply because I think they already did their best with them. Do you see what I mean? If I cover a song by someone very different from me, or a male singer, or a song like Love is the Drug by Roxy Music, I have an opportunity to do something different with them, flip them a bit and make them my own. But if I do a song like Wuthering Heights, or, I don't know, Orinoco Flow - I am, in a way, competing with the originals, which are already brilliant and sung by great female singers. So I may change my mind, but generally I am not drawn to that.

Q

Are you married?

Elizaveta responded on 02/27/2013
A

No, I am not married:)

Will you be coming to Tennessee any time soon? Specifically Nashville (Music City USA)? We would really love to have you here! :)

Q

Hi! I just "discovered" and understood that I was missing a lot. How do you make your music with so much feeling? Every time I hear one of your songs, my mood always changes into a positive mood. ^^

Elizaveta responded on 02/27/2013
A

You are very kind, my dear. I am glad that what I do makes you happy. That is the whole point. I will keep working on making better and better music! Thank you for reaching out and telling me.

Q

Is there any relation between your song "Nightflyers" and the George R.R. Martin novella?

Elizaveta responded on 02/27/2013
A

Wow, you got me! I am very impressed:) Yes, definitely.

Q

Thank you for songs and music! What is your attitude to Russia? Is it a Motherland for you? What do you feel to the Motherland of your parents?
Irina, Russia. Wait for you in Saint- Petersburg ;)

Elizaveta responded on 02/27/2013

Привет дорогая!
I still feel very Russian in many respects. I did grow up there, after all. I think my soul is very Russian, but I have acquired other traits from other places & countries I have been to and fallen in love with. My mom still lives in Moscow and my relatives, too. Next month, March 8th, which is the International Women's Day, I'll be performing in Moscow for the first time! I love St Petersburg - I went last summer. It is so beautiful! I hope to come again and perform this time. I am also working on my Russian album right now, so sign up on my email list and stay in touch! Обнимаю!

Q

Will you ever have a performance in the Midwest? You should come to Michigan sometime =) I have converted a bunch of my friends to your music and we would all be ecstatic to see you live.
